The Screening Kit

Research, Product Conceptualization, Prototyping
4 months, 2017

How might we make healthcare accessible to the rural population through tele-solutions?

This project was a part of Srishti Labs at Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore, India.

It was headed by Dr. Girish Prabhu and Anand James and was in collaboration with Philips Healthcare.

Solution Outline

The intervention is aimed at government schools in India which lack any kind of medical facilities on campus. Health camps are set up once a year, when all students are screened. To complement the existing system and stakeholders, the screening kit allows teachers to maintain student digital health records.

KIT CONTENTS

Touchscreen device, Digital Spirometer, Blood Pressure monitor, Oximeter, Camera & Mix, Contactless Height & Temperature measuring device, Weighing Scale

It enables any teacher to perform a variety of tests to prepare a health report of the students. The Kit consists of medically approved questionnaires in a multiple choice format along with screening devices that can be used to prepare detailed health reports without manual inputs. It helps the school administration to plan and organise relevant health camps for the school that take into account the health condition of the students of the school. Digitising the data at the point of inception makes the whole process efficient for the government as compared to their current approach of maintaining physical health cards that are digitised later.
